Started by removing all the seats, seat rails, floor, interior trim and rear airbags. Replaced the airbags with “simulators” (resistors) to satisfy the SRS restraint system.
Then started running wires for electrical and building wet bath structure.
A sound deadening material was rolled on to cover much of the surfaces of the floor and ceiling. This really helped to make the van quieter. We also used it to cover any holes as Butyl tape is pretty rugged.
Insulation was up next. We used 2″ Thinsulate for the walls, cavities and ceiling applied with 3M 90 adhesive spray. For the floor, the OEM passenger van floor was used with the top rubber membrane removed. This provided a good base to to fit within “ribs” of the floor. 1/2″ XPS sheets were then applied on top of the van floor with 1/2″ sheet of plywood then applied on top of that. The floor was finished with peel n’ stick vinyl tiles where we used vinyl floor glue to ensure proper adhesion.
