Rear Door Ladder

Decided it was time to add some sort of ladder to get onto the roof since we have our solar panels and Weboost antenna mast up there, at least for maintenance purposes while we are away from home! There are a ton of different options and having done some research, came across this company in the UK posting a lot of pictures on social media of their ladders. Wheeliams – Designers & Manufacturers of Overland Vehicle Accessories Turns out they make them for the Transit. Msg’d them, discussed options and decided on a custom driver’s side “shorty” type ladder. A few weeks later, it showed up!

The ladder came bare metal so I used some Rustoleum Self-etching primer and then top-coated that with Seymour Bed liner spray. Turned out pretty good IMO.

The ladder attaches to the van using the 2 of the 3 bolts on each upper and lower door hinge via custom brackets. It also requires drilling a hole through the door and securing the ladder to that point using a long bolt and adhesive (Sikaflex 221).
